Tokugawa Leyasu

Tokugawa Leyasu

After the death of Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1598 a new leader emerged in Japan, who would finish the work of unifying Japan. This leaders name was Tokugawa Leyasu.

Tokugawa Leyasu defeated the last opponents to a unified Japan in 1600, in the battle of Sekigahara, and then had the Emperor name him as the shogun. His descendants would rule Japan as the shoguns for the next 250 years.
