The Qing Dynasty

The Qing Dynasty

In 1644, the Manchus invaded China, and set up a new dynasty known as the Qing Dynasty. Qing means €˜pure’ in Chinese. The Qing Dynasty would rule China for the next 300 years.

The Qing Dynasty ended in the early 1900s

Qing emperors used their military forces to extend their empire outward, conquering Mongolia, Taiwan, Tibet, and much of the territory in western Asia that had long been inhabited by nomads. As a result, the Qing Dynasty ruled a larger territory than any earlier Chinese dynasty.
