The 1900’s were much more than just a century of sports and athletics, it was a century of incredible scientific and social advancements that hopefully this new century will be able to compare with, match and hopefully exceed.
Here are some of the things that came to be in the last century. Maybe you can make them better or you could invent something new altogether. All of these things showed up in the 1900’s: Radio tuners, fortune cookies, pop up toasters, arc welders, short wave radio, Band-Aids, robots, traffic signals, gas masks, frozen food, rockets, Pez dispenser candy, Yo-yo’s, Scotch tape, parking meters, Monopoly, radar, jet engines, helicopters, electron microscopes, Slinky, Silly Putty, microwave ovens, Tupperware, Frisbee, Velcro, jukebox, cake mix, credit cards, Super Glue, Mr. Potato Head, hovercrafts, Barbie dolls, ATM’s, artificial hearts, AstroTurf, Hacky Sack, floppy disks, video games, Post-it Notes, printers, Walkman, roller blades, Cabbage Patch Kids, pet rocks, cell phones, answering machines and many, many other things we all use nearly every day.
First traffic light.
First parking meter.
First microwave oven.
Maybe one of your great ideas or inventions will be talked about years and years from now as something that really made a difference in the world. Maybe in the world of science, or art, or literature, or engineering, or whatever it is you are interested in, something you have inside is waiting to come out that will make the world a better place. Thomas Edison failed thousands of times before he was able to find the answer that allowed him to invent the light bulb. The light bulb is an incredible invention that helped insure more hours of homework. Don’t you agree? Just remember, if you never ever give up and follow your dreams you will make the 21st century the best century ever. I guarantee it.
